(PRP) Platelet Rich Plasma

(PRP) Platelet Rich Plasma uses autologous (your own hematopoietic/mesenchymal within the plasma) white blood cells to help accelerate the body’s natural healing process. Often used for chronic tendon injuries, acute ligament issues, and muscle injuries, this procedure mixes technological medical advancements with your body’s own natural abilities to accelerate recovery time.

During this process, your own white blood cells are extracted, typically as a blood draw from a vein. Once a vial of your blood has been extracted, it is spun in a machine to separate the different biologic factors in blood plasma. This includes a blend of platelets and white blood cells, platelets, and white blood cells. Once the platelet-rich plasma has been removed, it is injected back into the injured area.

The PRP Therapy will release more growth factors than normal human blood and increase the proliferation of reparative cells. Since PRP injections come from your own blood, there are very few risks associated with this treatment. The process is very quick, and many patients only require a few injections to see results.
